Rise of Phoenix - a poem

Today I am going to present a poem on the mythical bird named Phoenix. According to Greek mythology, the Phoenix is a very ancient bird who lives for a long long time and symbolises the cycle of renewal -- birth, death and rebirth. The old Phoenix burns in the fire that it creates itself and rises from the ashes of its older self as a new and a young bird. Legends say that the Phoenix is a vibrant and colorful bird, wise beyond all human years with a fiery and mighty spirit that absorbs its massive energy from the sun. (Source Wikipedia )

Here's the poem -

RISE OF PHOENIX

Phoenix - the rise

("Rise of Phoenix" Copyright@PayalRoy2017)

There was once a mighty bird,
a beauty to behold in the eyes,
as she’d streak through dense
clouds of frosty stares that
judged every action she’d take,
and cast her out over
divergent outlooks in their wake.
Phoenix - the rebirth

Vanity and spite ruled their worlds,
with vengence riding a tide, that
swept through distorted nooks and
crannies of their uptight, insecure pride.
It morphed their once beautiful hearts
into dark abysses, now devoid of any real love.

The bird knew it all, yet she
rose to reach for  the stars,
streaking past those frosty stares,
her magnificent plumage glittering
a red and gold shining in brilliance,
as resplendent rays of a radiant sun
lit her ever winding path.

The bird knew to stand tall,
to never quit even if
she were to fall, being
true to her legend of the wise
old soul she truly was all along.
The Phoenix...she was called
fiery, fervid, unyielding, informed.

And the bird knew it was time,
to shed her plume and prepare to die;
to rebuild her strength through a
 fresh start, though every time
she knew it was always hard.

But, the fire in her radiant heart
ignited her soul ... and once
again in glory, her spirit rose
in grace and grandeur from
seared ashes of a bygone mortality,
as she glowed alive anew,
in totality of her beauty.
